PMI Honored to Receive Outdoor Industry Award
It’s been ten years since PMI joined the Outdoor Industry Association’s Sustainability Working Group. That day, together with outdoor brand leaders such as Patagonia, North Face and Columbia, PMI committed to build environmental and social responsibility into its products and supply chain. Since then, PMI has met twice a year with this innovative high-level coalition—now a few hundred strong—to discuss our common challenges and strengthen industry standards.
At the Outdoor Retail Show this past January, PMI was one of 15 Sustainability Working Group members to receive an Outdoor Industry Award, honoring our decade of commitment to this initiative. Cross-sector collaboration has been the hallmark of the Sustainability Working Group, and we are proud of our contribution to the HIGG Index and its predecessor, the Eco Index, developed initially for the outdoor industry to track and improve environmental and social performance throughout their supply chains.
PMI is excited to receive this award, and even happier that this decade of work has helped to lift the outdoor industry to a higher level of engagement, transparency and commitment to sustainability.
